On Espoo Day, Museum Leikki invites you to enjoy the fascinating world of Japanese pop culture. Come and admire the amazing costumes of cosplay enthusiasts, be amazed by ParaPara dance choreographies, shape a delicious anime character, build a manga character out of LEGOs, join a Pokémon hunt, and discover cute finds from vendors selling Japan-themed products. The event is free of charge.
Program:
10 AM – 5 PM Pokémon Hunt (non-stop, self-guided)
The Pokémon are missing! They’ve hidden themselves in the Museum Leikki’s exhibition. Come find all the hidden collectible Pokémon figures!
11 AM – 1 PM Anime Character Sweet Workshop
What does an anime character taste like? In Museum Leikki’s delightfully sweet workshop, you can shape an anime character out of sugar fondant. The sweet materials for the workshop are provided by Dr. Oetker.
11 AM – 3 PM Japan Alley
Kawaii, how cute! Come and make lovely discoveries at the Japan-themed stalls in the Museum Leikki’s yard.
11 AM and 4 PM AMV Screening
In the AMV screening, you’ll get to see amazing anime music videos created by Finnish fans. AMV, or Anime Music Video, is an art form that became popular at the turn of the 2000s, combining music and anime into new creative works. The screenings are hosted by Reea “Reettis” Kotka, the AMV coordinator from Desucon.
1 PM ParaPara Dance Performance
A handful of Japanese pop music, a dash of Eurobeat, and a sprinkle of fun hand movements. These are the ingredients for authentic Japanese ParaPara dancing, performed by the talented dancers of Helsinki Circle!
2 PM – 4 PM Manga Character Building Workshop
Are you a manga-LEGO Master? Come build your favorite manga character out of LEGO bricks in our workshop!
2 PM Japan POP Cosplay Fashion Show
The cosplay fashion show takes you into the wonderful world of cosplay, featuring stunning costumes from the hobby. The characters in the Japan POP Cosplay Fashion Show are familiar from Japanese manga, anime, music, and games. The fashion show is hosted by long-time cosplayer Michael “toyml” Lindström.
