Country lolita is one of the substyles that has emerged under sweet and classic lolita. It is slightly more ornate than old school lolita but does not reach the level of detail seen in sweet lolita. The essential features of country lolita include rustic elements such as the checkered gingham pattern, straw hats and baskets, as well as fruit and plant themed prints in the dresses. The materials of the dresses are usually natural fibers, and they are often paired with relatively simple blouses. Short hair is usually curled, and longer hair is braided.

“Whenever I put on a country lolita outfit, I imagine myself as Anne of Green Gables: boisterous and pretty. Softened by lace and petticoats, I’m ready to face the reality of the world.”
